Macromedia Fireworks
Introduction
Course Objectives

This course is designed to provide you with the basics of dealing with digital images for use on the Internet, using Macromedia Fireworks v3. You will learn about the different image file formats for the web and how the optimization techniques to obtain fast downloads, how to use the various drawing tools, how to modify, retouch and adjust an image, building an image up using layers and adding text and special effects to an image.

Pre-requisites

Delegates should be familiar with basic Windows 95 or above operation.

Digital Images
Understanding bitmap and vector graphics andlimitations to modification of an image.

Fireworks Basics
The main window, Toolbars, Palettes, opening and saving images, changing the view, different image file types and when they are used.

Image Optimization
Creating small but high quality images for the web in GIF, PNG and JPEG formats.

Editing Accuracy
Making use of Rulers and Grids to help with accuracy when modifying images.

Colours
Creating Stroke and Fill colours for use with the drawing painting tools.

Drawing Tools
Using the Paintbrush, Line, Shape and Eraser Tools.

Adjusting an Image
Adjusting colour, brightness and contrast of an image.

Making Selections
Selecting a part of an image using regular shapes, freehand and the Magic Wand, feathering the edge of a selection and modifying a selection.

Modifying an Image
Resizing, resampling, cropping, deforming, changing canvas size and retouching.

Layers
Using the layer system to assemble an image.

Text and Special Effects
Adding text to an image, making buttons for web pages, creating chiselled and cutout effects and creating drop shadows of objects and text.

Macromedia Fireworks
Advanced
Course Objectives This course is designed to provide you with an advanced knowledge of Macromedia Fireworks and its tools. You will learn how to use Filters, break an image down into Channels, create complex images use Masks to create effects.
Pre-requisites Delegates should be familiar with Macromedia Fireworks and its basic operation including resolutions, drawing tools, image modification, retouching, layers and text.

Using Masks to create effects on images.

Alpha
Using Alpha Masking and Transparency.

Image Maps
Creating images with client side or server side image maps.

Slicing Images
Creating multiple images from one image to fit into a page layout.

Buttons
Creating rollover navigation buttons.

Advanced Rollovers
Defining behaviors that control how rollover buttons work.

Animation
Using Symbols, Instances and Tweening to create animated graphics.

Automation
Using Batch Processing and automate repetitive tasks.

Working with Dreamweaver
Copying and pasting Fireworks HTML and editing Fireworks images placed in Dreamweaver.
