This course is designed to provide you with the
basics of creating and editing vector graphics in Macromedia
Freehand. You will learn when to use vector graphics rather
than bit-mapped, how to use the comprehensive selection of drawing
tools, building up an illustration with objects, filling objects
with colour and textures, working with and understanding colour
and using type in illustrations.
Pre-requisites
Delegates should be familiar with basic Windows
95 or above, or Apple Macintosh OS8 or above operation.

Understanding Vector Graphics and Encapsulated PostScript
(EPS) and how they compare with bit-mapped graphics.
Freehand Basics
The main window, the Toolbars, Palettes, opening and saving
illustrations, changing the view and using Rulers and Guides
to help with accuracy.
Objects
Creating Objects in illustrations: Rectangle, Ellipses, Polygons,
Lines and Bezier Curves, and using the Pen tool to draw shapes.
Colour
Creating custom colours, understanding Spot and Process colours
and controlling Trapping of colour.
Filling and Stroking
Using the Inspector palette, Filling and Stroking an object,
creating Gradient fills and multi-coloured blends, filling
an object with a Texture and using the Lens tool.
Working with Text
Adding Text to an illustration, editing Text, flowing Text
inside an object and creating Text on a Path.

will learn how to use Layers to control an illustration, work
with paths, work with text, combine bit-mapped graphics with
vector objects and create different file types.

Delegates should be familiar with Macromedia
Freehand and its basic operation including understanding vector
graphics, the standard drawing tools, colouring objects, working
with objects and type tools.
