Introduction
Course Objectives

You will learn how to use HTML tags to create a basic web site, including Hyperlinks, Images and Tables in a simple text editor.

Pre-requisites Delegates should have a basic understanding of using Windows 95 or above, or Apple Macintosh OS8 or above.

Web Design Issues
What to look out for when designing web pages.

HTML Tags
Container tags, standalone tags and attributes.

Basic HTML Tags
The basic HTML tags for a page: HTML, HEAD and BODY.

Text Formatting
Formatting text within a page.

Page Properties
Giving a title to a page, formatting the background of pages with images and colours, and defining default colours for text.

Working with Images
Including images within pages and setting their attributes.

Hyperlinks
Creating hyperlinks to other pages and e-mail hyperlinks.

Tables
Creating and formatting tables.

Course Objectives

This course is designed to instruct you how to use advanced HTML tags. You will learn how to submit your web site to Search Engines properly, create Hyperlinks targeting positions within pages from hot-spots on images, Cascading Style Sheets formatting the whole web site, forms to obtain information from visitors to your site and reassembling the web site to make use of Frames.

Pre-requisites

Delegates should be familiar with the basic HTML tags including Formatting Text, Inserting Images, Creating Hyperlinks, and Creating and Formatting Tables.

Platform Windows 95+, Mac OS8+.

Search Engines
Controlling how a web site is indexed by a Search Engine using <META> tags and page formatting.

Cascading Style Sheets
Using inline, embedded and external style sheets to change the formatting characteristics of HTML tags and creating custom formatting using CLASS and ID.

Image Maps
Defining areas of an image as Hyperlinks.

Anchored Hyperlinks
Creating anchors within HTML files and targeting them with internal and external Hyperlinks.

Forms
Gathering information from visitors to a web site with forms.

Advanced Tables
Using nested tables to create complex and interesting page layouts.

Document Templates
Creating and using standard template files for web pages.

Frames
Using Frames to control the content of pages areas and targeting frames from hyperlinks.
